Here Are the Facts You Need to Know About Juvederm

juvederm

Juvederm is an injectable, FDA-approved filler used to treat mild-to-moderate skin wrinkling and facial folds typically located towards the lower portion of the face. As people age, they lose collagen. Collagen helps build durable fibers that act as connective tissue. It contains hyaluronic acid, an essential restorative substance needed to fill-in folds and wrinkles caused by aging. When the human skin is treated with hyaluronic acid, it prevents excess water from accumulating while keeping moisture in.

Dermal fillers differ in how long they last and their formulas. Some treatments fill in lines and wrinkles while other methods affect the way your face looks overall. Both Juvederm® and Restylane® are hyaluronic-based wrinkle fillers with FDA approval offering immediate results.

Are the Injections Safe?

The critical ingredient is hyaluronic acid which is a natural substance produced in humans. The production of Juvederm® does not use animal substances and doesn’t require allergy testing. Most generally healthy adults may be able to use them, but it is essential to make the decision with the help of professional care.

How Long Will the Effects Last?

Research studies show that when hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin collagen levels increase resulting in less wrinkling. Regular injections of Juvederm® cause the body to respond with increased reinforcement of the area treated. However, when Juvederm® or Restylan®e is applied to an area that frequently moves such as the lips, the treatment may last less than six months.

Is Juvederm® Used Anywhere Else on the Body?

  • Helps fill in deeper skin folds
  • Fills in frown lines in the forehead
  • Lessen the severity of scarring and imperfections
  • Fills out thin or wrinkled lips
  • Gives cheeks a plumper appearance
  • Helps to shape the jawline

Are There Side Effects?

Following your treatment, you may experience soreness and swelling. There may also be signs of redness, skin discoloration, itching, bruising, or a mild stinging sensation which should not last longer than seven days.
